So when David started teaching he was doing it initially for the benefit of our community (California bay area) which was in disparate  need of refrigeration/heating seasonal workers to teach the trade to young highschool grads. Michigan University had a program set up where while teaching their course instruction there is also added instruction for gaining your teaching degree, but it also required David to travel once a year for five years to study under university professors in a one week setting. During that one week setting he was not only instructed further, but had to pass a series of test to move on. Even though he was getting paid and received increased wage of a few dollars within that five year span he never thought he would receive any other compensation for his time and schooling. A new union law passed last year shortly after he graduated (last August) that enabled David to receive a huge raise with all increase to go into his 401k. It will take effect in July. We are so blessed that we followed the spirit when at times David wanted to quit, b/c working and teaching became such a demand on his energies and time. This new law was created by union leaders to encourage others to further their education and in so gaining something in return.....Congraduations to my hubby, by gaining a brighter retirement...........
